McKinley Morganfield worked his way north to Chicago, after growing up in the Mississippi Delta. he played the Blues the whole way here and is the legendary artist who electrified the Blues. Best known as Muddy Waters, he discovered "God's Country" here in Westmont and made our Village his home from 1973 until he passed in 1983. Muddy participated in the community, performed at the high school and local festivals and enjoyed living here in Westmont.
The Taste of Westmont honors his memory and the blues, by hosting a blues tribute on Sunday of the Taste. Well know Blues Artists, as well as local performers grace our stage each year to remember Muddy and the Blues--be sure not to miss our Open Mic Blues Jam each year!
